Barn Conversion
Crowholt is in the Upper Churnet Valley in the Staffordshire Moorlands. The project involved the conversion of a former shippon to extend the adjoining bedroom and form an en-suite bathroom. Plans were prepared for planning approval followed by more detailed plans were prepared for tender and building control.
The brief was to open up as much of the upper gable as possible to create an enlarged bedroom with en-suite bathroom, rather than a separate room accessed by a conventional doorway. The adjoining gable was removed and inverted "Vee" steel beams fitted. The steels support the existing and new roof structures and rebuilt masonry. The project was undertaken by a local builder, John Stretton, email contact: John Stretton and should be completed shortly.
