Limekiln Cottage

Limekiln Cottage is an 19th Century cottage on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

In the mid 1980's a first floor gable extension was built. This added about 6m to the length of the building and 2m to width. The extra width was accommodated with a shallow pitch on the rear elevation.

The roof of the extension was raised, splitting the shallow pitched roof at the rear. This makes the extension look as if it had originally been a shippon with a more recently built lean-to at the rear.

The project involved the submission of plans and supporting documents to the Peak District National Park Authority and both structural and thermal calculations to Staffordshire Moorlands Building Control
